AI Remembers
The AI Remembers project brings together a tech company, an international WWII heritage network, and academia, combining AI expertise, historical preservation, and ethical research. This complementary partnership ensures that our AI tools are both technologically advanced and historically responsible, shaping the future of digital remembrance through collaboration.

Our Mission
Preserving History Effectively
The 'AI Remembers' project is anchored in a deep commitment to exploring the narratives of World War II through a technological lens. We aim to preserve and promote histories that have shaped our present, encouraging thoughtful engagement with the past. Through collaboration, we will explore how AI tools will be able to enhance understanding, making the legacies of those who lived through this tumultuous period accessible and relevant to all audiences.
Engagement Through Technology
We strive to engage stakeholders by providing tools that will facilitate dialogue about World War II, ensuring that diverse voices contribute to the narrative of remembrance.
Building Trustworthy Tools
We commit to develop tools that respect the lagcy of the past, and therefore align with strong ethical principles, ensuring that we provide trustworthy information to the public.
Advancing AI-Driven Solutions for WWII Heritage
Our initiative seeks to explore new ways of preservation of World War II history by integrating AI technological advancements. We recognize the importance of connecting the dots of the past with contemporary understanding, thereby enhancing accessibility to WWII stories.

Assistance in Research and Storytelling
The project will focus on the development and deployment of cutting-edge AI tools to enhance the accessibility, interpretation, and preservation of WWII heritage, with a particular emphasis on enriching the experience of Liberation Route Europe (LRE) as a central case study. By leveraging existing technologies, we aim to create innovative solutions that enable automated content analysis, intelligent search functionalities, and AI-assisted storytelling. These technologies will support historians, cultural institutions, and visitors along the LRE trails in engaging with historical materials in new and meaningful ways. We’re dedicated to ensuring that AI-driven approaches enhance, rather than replace, human expertise, providing tools that empower users to explore the past with greater depth, interactivity, and a multiperspective understanding of history.
Community Engagement
Our project aims at creating a dynamic dialogue surrounding World War II heritage and how AI can be used to preserve our history. By engaging stakeholders such as educators, historians, and the heritage experts, we aim to foster a collaborative environment for discussing the opportunities from new AI technologies.

Collaborative Learning Experiences
The project will be exploring, testing, implementing, and refining AI-driven tools within real-world heritage setting.
Through collaborations with museums, historians, archives, and cultural institutions, we will pilot AI applications to assess their impact, usability, and historical accuracy. A key component is the establishment of workshops, roundtable discussions, and public events that bring together historians, curators, educators, and policymakers to critically engage with AI’s role in cultural heritage. These dialogues will ensure that AI tools are “developed with”, rather than” for”, the heritage sector,
This will allow the project to address ethical concerns and align with the needs of those preserving WWII memory. By combining technical validation with active stakeholder involvement, this work package ensures that AI innovation enhances public engagement while maintaining the integrity of historical narratives.
Introducing Our Commitment to Ethical AI Practices
At the core of our initiative lies a steadfast dedication to trustworthy AI. As we navigate the complexities of preserving WWII legacies, we ensure that our decision-making is grounded in principles of respect and accuracy. Transparency and collaboration are pivotal; we strive to engage a broad spectrum of voices and perspectives, enriching the conversations surrounding our shared historical narratives.

Ensuring Trustworthy AI in WWII Heritage
As artificial intelligence transforms the way we engage with history, it is crucial to ensure that the use of these technologies remains ethical, transparent, and respectful of historical accuracy. AI Remembers places a strong emphasis on developing trustworthy AI frameworks, ensuring that all digital tools adhere to the highest standards of fairness, accountability, and interpretability. The project will focus on addressing potential biases in AI-generated content, safeguarding the integrity of historical narratives, and establishing ethical guidelines for AI applications in cultural heritage. By integrating rigorous ethical oversight and interdisciplinary expertise, we aim to set a benchmark for responsible AI innovation in the field of history and memory.
